Plan on paper before you spend on tools.
He tested inventions completely in his imagination — and said a machine never failed him at the bench that had worked in his head. Thinking is the cheapest prototype. Plan the task fully before you spend money or hours on it.
Do not rush into building.
His own advice was to resist jumping straight into 'real work' — most people build first and think second, then pay for it in rework. The frog is often the planning, not the doing.
Walk every single day.
His daily walks were long and non-negotiable — ideas continued working while he moved. A daily walk is not stolen from work time. It is where the next task gets easier.
Work alone on the hard parts.
He said ideas are born in solitude, away from outside influence. Collaboration has its hours — but the hardest thinking needs a closed door and a silent phone.
